Dianne (Dee Dee)'s Story

Life I've done many things, still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. My teen years were "high maintenance"... I've been married and divorced twice and have no biological children. I've been in a committed relationship for the last 28 years. My partner and I have an "adopted" daughter (since she was 14) who will be 39(!) in July 2010. I try to live organically and greenly. I can fix about anything. I love to play in the garden, this season I have strawberries, raspberries, grapes, 3 or 4 kinds of squash, tomatoes, pumpkin, and herbs. I also have a peach, cherry, 2 kinds of fig, an apple and a lemon tree. Everything tastes so good! I like to cook, too. I have one dog, a dachshund with a Chihuahua in her background. She will be 16 in August. She can't see or hear well and has canine Alzheimer's but I haven't the heart to tell her that she's not a puppy! She charms us daily... I love the ocean and the desert, throw in a mountain or two and I'm in heaven. I had planned to leave LA for the desert. That was before I found the perfect house in Granada Hills. We call it the "D & G Resort". Everything I need is here, a huge pool, a huge garden in a nice neighborhood in the Valley (yeah, I know how snobby we all used to be about the Valley, but it works for me!) The original "garden" was a 25 x 40' lawn with a tree at the end. No longer! I have a fenced in veggie garden, and soon there will be cherries as well. I have planted all sorts of iris and roses. Give me a few more years and you'll see a paradise! I believe that each person can make a difference, that kindness ripples and multiplies, th...Expand for more
at we are all neccessary, and yes, we are the world and it's in our best interest to promote peace. School I'm happy now and I wasn't then, so I'm not sure that I could have changed things; however...a law degree sure would come in handy now and then! College I stopped 2 classes shy of an associate's degree and completed 80% toward a bachelor's (I didn't go back to school until I was 30!). Started out as a Psychology major. Thought about becoming a teacher but grew disenchanted with the structure. I've done well in spite of the lack of a degree and view myself as literate and successful. Workplace Still have ideas to pursue...currently toying with an online sales idea. Currently I am happily unemployed, two years short of planned retirement. Up until recently, I worked for an insurance company, marketing funding/investment products to defined contribution plans, a retail note program and assorted other financial products. The reason for unemployment is all in that last sentence!!! I have owned and operated bars and restaurants with my second husband. I was a film extra and stand-in for kids (I'm short!!!) also was a stand-in for Bette Davis once. That was incredible! I've worked as every kind of waitress (always fun for me!) I have booked out of town sales events for an oriental rug company, was right hand to a general contractor who remodeled fabulous, elegant homes, and have worked in high end jewelry manufacturing. I seem to keep finding specialized niche jobs...not one has had much crossover with the next, all have been complex and interesting. So, who knows what's next, I'll be happily surprised!
